Arctic Cool Gear

I am SO ready for my boys to make their debut soon.. I’m ready to see their sweet faces but I’m also SO ready to have my body back! I’ve already started stocking up on my favorite workout gear through Arctic Cool Gear – They released some new items that are SO comfortable and really cute!

Being big into health and fitness, I’ve tried all different kinds of brands and always struggled with overheating and sticking from sweating – All of these create an uncomfortable exercising experience that would stop me from wanting to continue..

I’ve never had that with Arctic Cool (Which is why I’m 5 pieces of clothing deep 😉 ).. With their HydroFreeze X technology, their revolutionary fabric wicks moisture away while lowering body temperature.. Yeah, it literally uses your own sweat to cool you down and it feels amazing!

Their new releases are SO cute and still incredibly comfortable.. I may be rocking my new tank top already, which only covers half of my belly but it’s just too soft and I am sweating constantly right now.. haha!

 

Once my boys decide to grace us with their arrival I’ll be so ready to get back on the exercise wagon (Once I heal, of course..) and I’m so happy to have all of my Arctic Cool gear along for the challenge!

Ba-Nom-a-Nom Nice Cream Truck

Anyone else LOVE Nice Cream?! A guilt-free and delicious alternative to Ice Cream – I love it and it’s PALEO. When I was driving back from the store last month I was behind the Ba-Nom-a-Nom truck and was INSTANTLY intrigued when the back said NICE CREAM.

That’s not something you expect to see very often with all of the unhealthy food still going around BUT in our gorgeous state of Colorado we’re doing a really wonderful job of finding healthier alternatives for ourselves and our children!

I went to their website and found their schedule. You can catch them in Denver at the Civic Center Park most Thursdays and Pearl Street Farmer’s Market in Denver nearly every Sunday! If you’re outside of the metro area you can find them up in Fort Collins on Tuesdays and Longmont on Mondays! They’re then in random locations all throughout the week! Their wide spread stops makes it really convenient for anyone to catch them!

So we picked a time and place that worked for my family and brought them to try some! I got an amazing Peach Mango flavored nice cream with vegan organic chocolate sauce and almond granola – It was DIVINE. I’m salivating just thinking about it..

And my Dad was in town from Texas (He’s an old cowboy kinda guy, I love him ❥) and wasn’t sure what he would think but after he saw the options he decided to get a strawberry and banana flavored nice cream with vegan organic chocolate sauce and he LOVED it. Said he couldn’t tell a difference!! (That was my win for the day 😉 )

The owner is an amazing woman named Sarah who wanted to bring a healthy alternative to the people of Denver and it’s making a huge difference. Kids get excited about all of the different flavors and toppings and you as a parent can feel great about the food you’re allowing them to eat because it’s beneficial for them but also GOOD which is a WONDERFUL lesson to teach your kids – Healthy. Can. Be. YUMMY!

Ungrip Your Phone

I take my phone to the gym with me to use my favorite timer for my Tabata workouts and for the longest time would just place it on the floor which grossed me out! But since getting these Ungrips I have been able to slip them on my finger and keep a better eye on the time I have left.

I got three so my Husband and step-daughter could have one as well and they love them! They both game on their phones and comment that the grip is really convenient for the landscape orientation!

My favorite use for it though would be taking my photos. There are so many times where I switch between holding my phone horizontally and vertically to get different camera angles and my phone slips out of my hand due to my slick case. I haven’t done this at ALL since getting my Ungrip.

It’s handy as a mother who can slip this on her finger without having to worrying about it falling when carrying around her VERY heavy boy who wants Momma 24/7 😉 It’s just 3M VHB tape that adheres to most surfaces and leaves no residues when removed and it’s a VERY strong hold!

We will not be removing these anytime soon as I can’t imagine not slipping my finger through this every time I pick up my phone! It’s a comfort now 😉

Words of Wisdom Wednesday – Throwback – Defining Healthy

Hello my lovely followers! I got a notification that it’s my 1 year anniversary of starting my blog.. SO exciting!! Didn’t think this blog would go very far but it’s been an amazing experience, I’ve met many amazing people, done amazing things and learned even more about health on my journey to help OTHERS.

So I wanted to do a throwback of my FIRST post ever, because I think it’s a good one and many people didn’t get to see it since it was a whole year ago 😉 So here it goes – Thank you to everyone whose made this blog so rewarding and fun!

Unfortunately, a lot of people fall for those commercials that claim their foods are made with “natural flavors” or have the most natural ingredients. But in reality they make them the first few ingredients and then add a ton of crap as “preservatives” at the end that makes it unhealthy. Healthy food is WHOLE foods – Real meat, fruits, vegetables. Foods that aren’t processed or come from a freezer.

All my life I had heard “Eating healthy is too expensive” and saw people eat unhealthy thinking that it was true, because.. It had to be right? Or else people wouldn’t be doing it.. And when you go to a fast food place the salad is usually more expensive than the fattening food. So you would assume that it is usually correct that healthy food is pricey.

But when you go into the store you notice that when you cut out all of the frozen food, chips, soda, bread, etc. that your bill really isn’t very high! For instance, my husband went to the grocery store today and found a TON of chicken on sale and came home with around 8 bags of fruits, vegetables and meats and it was only $48! We saved $30 with our King Soopers card. And now we’ll have meats to freeze to keep them from going bad and have food for quite a while!

Don’t believe the hype that you cannot eat healthy due to the price or that some foods are “healthy” because the commercial claims them to have natural ingredients in them. You catch on really quickly that if you want something that may not be a WHOLE food to look at the ingredients. We use coconut sugar, it is made solely from the coconut flower and is a non-refined sugar that the body can process easier. If you look at the ingredients it tells you just that, there aren’t long names that you cannot pronounce.

Foods make a lot of claims, you just need to know the trick to decided which is a gimmick and which is truly good for your body!:)

Berry Burst Smoothie

Handful of Strawberries

Handful of Frozen Raspberries

1 Banana

1/2 Cup Water (or Almond/Coconut milk)

1 Scoop of Purely Inspired Organic Greens Mix

This smoothie is perfect for kids and early mornings! It’s super sweet and the Organic Greens Mix has a ton of vitamins in it for a healthy dose of energy!


Apple Crisp Smoothie

2 Bananas

1/2 Cup Applesauce

2 1/2 Tbsp Purely Inspired Powdered Peanut Butter

1/2 Cup Water

1 tsp Cinnamon

The kids LOVE this smoothie! They always ask for extra peanut butter 😉 But it’s refreshing, healthy and cool for those warm days!


Vanilla Post-Workout Protein Shake

1/2 Cup water (Or Almond/Coconut milk)

1 Banana

1 1/2 Tbsp Purely Inspired Powdered Peanut Butter

1 Scoop Purely Inspired Vanilla Protein

By far my favorite protein drink post-workout! I love the peanut butter and banana together.. It’s so creamy and the protein is so delicious!


Chocolate Post-Workout Protein Shake

1/2 Cup Water (Or almond/coconut milk)

1 Banana

1 Scoop Purely Inspired Chocolate Protein

I love this one as simple as this.. The banana and chocolate together are delicious!! I’m sure some of that powdered peanut butter would be delicious too if the craving strikes you.. (Maybe tastes like a Tag-A-Long?!)

Hidrate Spark 2.0

Update: Just needed to have some parts replaced on my bottle and the customer service team was spectacular at assisting me quickly!! Love how long my bottle/batteries lasted and will continue to use this bottle! You can ask anyone I know, I seriously take this everywhere I go!! Great gift for Christmas!! 

I was SO excited when I got a notification from Instagram saying I was tagged in a post by Hidrate Spark.. I knew exactly what it was for – I had won their giveaway for one of their amazing Hidrate 2.0 Smart Water Bottles! I had been wanting one for SO long. I had seen so many different reviews for them and heard nothing but wonderful things, so was ecstatic to get my hands on one!

I’d been wanting one of their bottles so badly because they are so unique in that it actually has lights that flash inside the bottle to remind you to drink water when you’re falling behind on your daily goal; The goals can be manually set by you *On their free app* (I set mine to manually be at ~88oz everyday) or you can set it to the “Recommended Daily Goal” which changes your goals day by day depending on your location (Temperature, Humidity, Elevation, Steps, etc) **Such an AMAZING feature! So innovative.

Having the glowing reminders and your goal tracked really help, because it’s so incredibly important to stay hydrated and this bottle keeps you accountable. I honestly find myself feeling SO proud when I go OVER my goal, even if just a little! And I haven’t had a day yet where I don’t meet my goal! I’ve felt more energized, less groggy, have less headaches and just overall healthier since I’ve started using it!

The bottle comes equip with bluetooth that allows it’s users to connect to it via the Hydrate app – And also connects to Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, Google Fit, Withings and Jawbone Up! Makes me really want to go out and get a Fitbit.. I’ve almost gotten one twice now! All because I want to be able to sync it to my bottle hahaha!

I am so happy I won the giveaway and was able to get such a beautiful and high tech bottle! It’s made a huge difference in my health and life ALREADY. I highly recommend this to ANYONE! Especially people who are constantly on the go!

Workout Routine Roulette

I find it incredibly important to switch up your workouts. Not just, “What do I want to work on today?” but different routines! It makes it easier to follow through when you don’t know what’s coming next and so it doesn’t become monotonous.

For the longest time I’d do random YouTube videos over and over and over… Eventually I found myself thinking about the one move I HATE the most (Burpees -_-) and ended up not having the motivation to even START the workout because I was dreading ONE 45 second move in a long list of workouts..

That’s when I realized I needed to do the “Workout Routine Roulette”, where I change it up constantly. I have my own routine, some YouTube videos (that I have memorized :p), Way of Gray workouts and more!

I haven’t worked out for awhile because I forgot about my WRR – So I decided to get up and try Way of Gray again today for the first time in awhile. And I feel AMAZING. I mixed it up by doing some of my moves and some of hers which left me feeling reinvigorated and re-motivated!

Stuck in a workout rut? Switch it up, try something new, buy new workout clothes – Whatever it takes to help you get that motivation back and eventually it’s not even a “need motivation” thing, it literally becomes a habit.
